Whether you are moving just to a new street, or to a new country, the process of moving can be a busy and stressful experience. The last thing you want to have to worry about it is whether all of your personal belongings are going to make it to your new home in one piece. But with a little bit of planning and the right packing materials (it pays off to purchase the right ones), all of your things will make it to your new home in mint condition. Here are 5 tips for packing and moving your belongings.

1.	Chances are, you’ll need more boxes than you think you’ll need. A house with 6 rooms will use, on average, 30 large-sized (20x20x15) boxes during a move. Use medium boxes for heavy items, such as books, lest the boxes become too heavy to carry.

2.	Pack all of your small appliances in plain unprinted packing paper. Never pack your appliances in shredded paper, as this may clog them and cause damage. Packing paper can also safely be used on delicate items such as lamp shades.

3.	Don’t forget to label all of the boxes you pack with the room in which they belong as well as warnings such as “fragile” and “this end up.” Packing tape is handy not just for sealing your labeled boxes, but for holding drawers closed during transport and securing mirrors. For chests and dressers, cover the surface with an old blanket before taping the drawers down. Make a big “X” in the middle of a mirror with tape to help protect it from shattering.

4.	Bubble wrap is excellent for moving all of your breakable items, such as dishes and framed pictures. Make sure that when you move plates and bowls, you pack them on edge rather than on top of each other in a stack. Otherwise, one good bump could shatter the whole stack.

5.	Stretch wrap can be used to keep oddly shaped items, such as skis and ski poles, together. It is also excellent for use in keeping mattress pads and sofa covers in place during transit.

Moving is one of the most stressful tasks you can undertake, so some basic moving tips are always helpful. Although some of these tips may sound like common sense, they are easily dismissed during the moving process due to a hectic schedule. When you’re smack in the middle of a move; large or small, simple things are easily overlooked and can add to the overall stress of moving.

To help make sure your next move runs smoothly, start by paying attention to the small details as you begin to plan the process. The small details can be big timesavers and may help lower your blood pressure in the process! Just keep the old cliché in mind: “Better safe than sorry.” That’s right; it’s all about preparation and being proactive, especially when it comes to moving.

1. Have Children or Pets?

If possible, try to transport your pets and/or your children to your new home before the actual moving process begins. Enlist the help of a family member or friend to take the animals and your kids to the new home a few hours or even the night before the moving truck arrives. This will eliminate any extra stress from having to keep an eye on the kids and pets, and they will all be set up at the new place, ready to help when you arrive to unload your belongings.

2. Pack Breakables Properly.

Save yourself a headache and some money by making sure you pack any breakables the right way. Glass, dishes, or other valuables should be packed properly with quality packing paper, and the right boxes make all the difference in the world. Avoid any unwanted surprises when you unpack by investing the time and money in proper packing procedures.

3. Pack Early, Room by Room.

Packing early might sound like a no-brainer, but packing room by room is just as important. Start by packing one room at a time, and then move each pile of boxes to a designated “pick up” area for the movers, if possible. Anything heavy can be left alone, and it helps if you enlist the help of professional movers from start to finish. You can even get help with the packing if you’d like.

Moving the easy way– sound strange? We all know moving is anything but easy, regardless of how big of a move you’re undertaking, but it can certainly be easier and less stressful if done right.

Anyone can make the moving process much easier by enlisting the help of a professional moving company. Did you cringe reading that? You don’t have to. When you hire the right company, letting a moving company help you won’t drain your bank account, and any money you do spend is always well spent.

Although we often hear that hiring a moving company is far too expensive, sometimes it is crucial that we do so. This is especially true when it comes to making a huge move or having the need to transport valuables.

In the long run, though, hiring a moving company is almost never as expensive as we hear or imagine. Even if the final number is just a bit out of your budget, have you considered what you’re receiving for that estimate in the long run?

At the end of the day, using a moving company to help you move is like any other investment. When you choose a professional, reputable company, you’re not just paying them to move your stuff. You’re paying them to oversee your move so that you don’t have to.

If you have kids, pets, or a business to tend to, these responsibilities still need to be taken care of during the move, right? Well, paying for a moving company to move you takes one less (big) burden off of your shoulders, so you can focus on the more important things. Why burn yourself out trying to do it all?

Additionally, you, your friends, and your family may not be able to lift and carry your valuables. If you break your valuables, you’re stuck replacing them, and some can’t even be replaced. Professional movers are trained to lift, carry, and transport heavy items and boxes. Let them do the heavy lifting instead, and save your back. These are only a few of the many reasons hiring a professional moving company allows you to move the easy way.

Moving can be overwhelming, and it is most stressful when you attempt to ensure that your breakable items make it to your new location safe and unscathed. However, learning how to pack your breakables properly can reduce the chances of any mishaps.

Boxes

While any old box may do, the best boxes for breakables are cardboard dish barrels. While these may be more expensive than conventional cardboard boxes, they can help absorb the shock much better. Unlike conventional cardboard boxes, cardboard dish barrels are made of thicker cardboard. This thickness helps to absorb the shock of moving and jarring better than the thin cardboard that conventional boxes are made of. If you do decide to use regular boxes, be sure to use good sturdy ones; we sell these at a reasonable price.

Tape

You can’t even imagine how many breakables suffer a terrible fate because of the wrong tape or the improper taping of a box. The tape is the glue that holds the box together, so it’s essential to get the taping process right. Avoid duct or masking tape when taping up your boxes. Instead, purchase only packing tape. It is specifically made to hold together heavy boxes.

When taping the boxes, be sure that the box is put together properly. Then, with a tape gun, draw the tape all the way across the seam and about one-third of the way up the side. This will help to further secure the box, reducing the chances that the box will come apart when it is being moved.

Paper
Paper is used to cushion the breakables during the moving process. While you can use regular newspaper, you should keep in mind that the ink will transfer to your breakables. This means that you will have to wash them once they are unpacked. If you don’t want to endure the extra chore of washing your breakables after the move is over, purchase white packing paper. This paper works just as well as newspaper, but without the messy ink transfer.

Wrapping

Before you actually start wrapping, you should start with a soft bed of paper on the bottom of your box. Avoid laying the folded paper inside the bottom of the box. Instead, crumple up several pieces of paper. This will do a better job of absorbing the shock.

When wrapping glasses, paper should be inserted into the open end, which will provide extra cushioning. Plates and bowls should use at least two layers of paper to ensure that there is enough cushioning between each plate.

Time to move? Then it’s time to get packing! Moving is one of the most stressful things you can do. It’s right up there on the stress scale with starting a new job or getting married. It takes tons of planning, a lot of patience, and the right packing skills to ensure that your stuff makes it from one place to another, all in one piece.

Whether you live alone and are moving to a new apartment, or you have a single family home and need to move your entire family, finding help can be frustrating. Isn’t it funny how when it’s time to move, sometimes even your closest family and friends are nowhere to be found?

Let’s face it, no one likes to go through the moving process. Finding help from neighbors, family, and friends can be harder than you think because moving is a lot of work! Not everyone can offer help because of heavy lifting requirements. Carrying boxes and furniture to and from a truck can be very physically taxing, and at times, even dangerous.

Moving costs can be expensive enough as it is, and you may not want to utilize professional moving services on top of paying for everything else. While the extra cost may seem inconvenient, it’s important to consider what it will mean if you forgo professional moving and packing services. In the long run, you save yourself a lot of stress when you have professional help.

The reality is, you may very well end up spending more money to replace damaged goods, or you may even need to leave certain things behind if you choose to try and move yourself. Hours of heavy lifting can be dangerous for your back and muscles, and even the smallest move can be downright exhausting. Movers are trained to lift properly and move items quickly, which you may not be able to do alone. At the end of the day, making a fair investment for packing and moving services can be worth your reduced stress and peace of mind.

Working with a moving company allows you to have help with everything, from start to finish. Professional services can help supply the materials you need, do the packing for you, and move your items from place to place. Residential and commercial moving services will save you a headache, get you settled into your new place quicker, and will help make sure your items remain intact throughout the process.

Time to pack your china and crystal pieces for moving and suddenly your knees start knocking and your hands start shaking. What a daunting task is ahead of you! Getting all those valuable things through you upcoming move safely!

Stop being afraid. ANYTHING can be packaged securely. It’s true. You just need the right tools. Patience. And a few tips.

We have been packaging and moving fragile items for many years. With 100% success. And you can, too.

Now, before we go any further, like we said, we have been packing and moving fragile items for years. And we can do the same with your fragile items. But, if for some reason you are determined to pack them yourself, here’s a few tips to keep things all in one piece:

Think of your item as a baby. Think in terms of wrapping your item, swaddling it just as you would swaddle a baby in a blanket. Here’s how.

1) Keep the correct supplies on hand. You will need the following:
1.	Clear packing tape (wide – NOT narrow)
2.	Packing tape dispenser
3.	Styrofoam peanuts (the pink NON-static ones are great but the white will do)
4.	Sheets of bubble wrap (the smaller bubbles NOT the big ones)
Hint: Bubble wrap can be purchased on large rolls with perforations. You can pull off 12 inch X 12 inch sheets as needed just by ripping. Very convenient.
5.	Clean white tissue paper (avoid heavier newsprint paper as it increases weight and cost)
6.	Thin pieces of cardboard (like you’d find inside a new shirt)
7.	Zip-Lock bags (a variety of sizes)
8.	Good cardboard boxes (you can recycle these boxes by turning them inside out)
9.	Mailing labels
10.	Black felt pen
2. Examine your item carefully. Look for thin areas like arms, beaks, noses…anything which could snap in transit. Cut thin strips of tissue or bubble wrap and wrap the area (like a mummy). You are attempting to make the fragile area flush with the rest of the piece. Tape the wrap tightly in place. Do NOT put tape directly on your item. Keep the tape on your wrapping ONLY.
3. Now wrap the entire piece neatly in 2 thicknesses of clean tissue paper. Wrap snugly like swaddling a baby. Use tape to secure the tissue.

4. Now use another sheet of bubble wrap and swaddle the tissue-wrapped piece. Tape in place.

5. Choose a strong box (it must be larger all the way round than your wrapped piece). Add some styrofoam peanuts. Now place your well-wrapped fragile item on top of the peanuts. (There should be space all the way around the item for more peanuts.) Spill more peanuts around the sides and on the top.

6. Remember to enclose your paperwork at this time. Be sure NOT to place these across the top of the box as they will get cut by anyone using a box cutter to open the box. Slip the papers down one edge instead.

8. Close the box flaps and do this test…push down on the flaps. Do they easily push in? If so, you have not put in enough styrofoam peants. Open the box and add more. When pushed down, the flaps should remain solid but not bulging. Once the flaps are flat and solid, begin sealing your box with the packing tape. (HINT: Make certain your box is not bulging…keep it square…remove some packing if your box is not sitting square. A square box moves better inside a rectangular truck.)

9. TAPE it up. This is not a time to save money. Tape in one direction making sure that one tape end always meets on top of another tape end because tape sticks well to tape, not cardboard. Now, tape in the other direction making a neat intersection of tape.

10. Label clearly with a large well-printed white label. Hand printing or computer printing is fine as long as the words are large and legible. Apply the label to your box and then take your packing tape and securely cover the label. If your package runs into a rain shower, your label will be wearing its packing tape raincoat.

11. Keep one area in your office or home for packing. Keep it all set up with your tools and supplies. You will find your packing will go very quickly when you are all set up to go.

It not to late to call us…but, either way, if everything is packed correctly, you will experience happy moving!!!

Anyone who has had to relocate in their past can tell you that moving to a new location can be a stressful, trying experience. Moving to a new home isn’t easy and it requires a lot of hard work. It is not easy to pack up your belongings, load them into a truck, and carry them into a new apartment or house. Not only is this mentally and physically taxing, but it’s hard to handle emotionally. The following reasons are the biggest examples of why it’s always a good idea to hire a moving company when you need to move into a new apartment, house, or office.

Moving to a new place is physically challenging and dangerous. If you need to move heavy items like furniture, exercise equipment, and large appliances, you can hurt yourself. You can damage your valuables and your house or apartment if you are not careful. Some items are just too heavy and the work should be left to the professionals especially if the items need to be carried up or down a flight of stairs. Professional movers have the strength and skill that’s needed to move heavy items up or down the stairs, out of the doorways, and into their trucks. If you don’t hire a professional moving company, you can easily injure your back and knees while lifting an item improperly.

A professional mover can help you pack your belongings the right way. Your belongings need to be packed properly if you want to prevent them from getting damaged. It is easy to load fragile items into a truck improperly and this will result in damages that cannot get repaired. If you don’t want to take risks and break anything, hire a company who can pack your things for you.

Professional movers have the necessary equipment and tools to get the work done. They have enormous trucks, so they can move all your things quickly. If you hire a professional moving company, you will save a substantial amount of time and be able to get back to work and life quickly. Having a full-sized truck will also ensure that you have a smooth move.

Professional movers are affordable to anyone- even people who have a small budget. Many professional movers offer free estimates, so you should take advantage of that. Contact a professional mover today and obtain a quote.

Most professional movers are insured. You can ask for a copy of their insurance certificate if you want to make sure they carry insurance. If you hire a mover who is insured, you will have peace of mind knowing that if someone gets hurt during the move or if something happens to your belongings, you will be protected.

All in all, hiring a moving company to facilitate a move for you is one of the best decisions you will ever make. It will allow you to handle the small details that are involved in your move, and leave the hard work and preparation of your valuables to the professionals who can get the job done quickly and in a safe manner. Do yourself a favor and hire a reliable moving company for your next move. You’ll be glad you did.
